America’s first zoo and one of the region’s foremost conservation organizations, the Philadelphia Zoo’s 42-acre Victorian garden is home to over 1,500 animals, many of which are rare and endangered. The Zoo, fulfilling its mission of conservation, science, education and recreation, supports and engages in conservation efforts to protect endangered species around the world. Cheetahs, hippos, giraffes and polar bears make the Zoo Philadelphia’s leading family attraction. Visit the Zoo’s state-of-the-art PECO Primate Reserve to see gorillas, colobus monkeys, ruffed lemurs and more. Soar 400 feet above the city on the Channel 6 Zooballoon®. The Zoo seasonally offers the Tastykake Children’s Zoo, giant Swan Boat rides, zookeeper talks and a magical Treehouse with interactive activities for children. Guests can check the Zoo map, printed daily, for animal feedings and keeper talks.
